What is Arthritis Pain Shoulder?

Arthritis affects mainly all the joints in the body that have developed some sorts of inflammation or swelling depending on the types of trauma, degenerative process or other bodily activities that could permit the attack on the health of the joints and the surrounding muscles, bones and tissues.

Arthritis could reach the extremities of the body such as the hands and the toes u to all other bodies that have connective tissues such as that of the joints which could therefore run up towards the spine, the shoulders and even the jaws.

While there may be hundreds of varieties of arthritis, only two are commonly appearing in most patients namely the rheumatoid arthritis and the osteoarthritis.

Rheumatoid arthritis is basically an autoimmune condition that is relatively seen among people of old age. The cells that are supposed to protect the tissues from harmful bodies that could cause damage to their own construction somehow attack its own system. The nature of this condition is not yet known. And there is still too few information as to why the body suddenly turns against itself. Nonetheless, this is the primary cause of any autoimmune disease.

Such systemic attacks could lead to inflammation in the joints. This inflammation, given time could result to eventual invasion of the cartilage and the joints which could produce much damage. Without the necessary protection the joints need through the cushioning of the cartilage, it is likely that further damage will occur. Aggravation of the condition means further inflammation and swelling and thus more sharp pains on the shoulder.

But, this type of arthritis is not as common in shoulder arthritis as compared with that of the osteoarthritis.

Osteoarthritis, on the other hand, is more likely to be seen among people having shoulder pains due to arthritis. This is primarily because of the principle of wear and tear.

Since the shoulders are repetitively and abrasively used during the course of life, it would incur sever damage over time. This explains why arthritis is typical among older people since they, in principle, have used up their body mechanism mostly up to their maximum. Thus people who have worked their body hard all their lives are more prone to developing arthritis.

As we have earlier mentioned, the wear and tear process will progressively lessen the capacity of the cartilage to protect the joints from rubbing. Once the protective covering wears away, there would be direct contact between bones and joints which could result to inflammation. This is the cause of pain.

People who are 50 years old and above have the most potentiality of developing this kind of disease. People with history of shoulder injuries, fractures or anything that could be linked with any source of shoulder pain have higher likelihood of developing arthritis, and thus shoulder pain. Shoulder arthritis may also run in the family since there are links towards genetic predisposition.

Once the onset begins, shoulder arthritis has high possibilities towards worsening the condition. What's good with this type of arthritis though is that there are symptoms that might discontinue over time. There are, however, two possibilities: the symptoms lay dormant or it has stopped developing, which is of course stands a very rare chance. The ceasing of shoulder pain due to arthritis may arise all of a sudden and the pain continues.

Therefore, patients suffering from arthritis shoulder pain must consider both short term and long term treatment options.
